The History of Our Kindergarten

Doonside Preschool Kindergarten was started in 1965 by a group of local parents who believed a community preschool was needed for the children of Doonside. They initially met and provided activities in a local home!

After approaching Blacktown Council to provide them with suitable public land, they started meeting in a local hall - as numbers were growing. Over the next few years, the Preschool flourished in rented premises as Council agreed to ​​​​​​​​​​build a purpose built center on the current site. Parents fund-raised with street stalls, raffles and competitions and finally the building opened in February 1971.

We have been here ever since - continuing to provide quality community based, not-for-profit preschool - just as those initial parents intended.

Our Management Committee is still a voluntary body who are elected each year at our Annual General Meeting.
